Ugg Boot History

The history of the Australian ugg boot goes back as far as pilots in World War I and shearers in the 1930’s. By the 1960’s, Aussie surfers were also fashioning their own version of ugg boots.

The word ugg has been used for many years to describe a style of sheepskin boot and not a brand. So if you want an Aussie ugg boot made from Aussie products right here in Australia then buy our boots. Boots made by Ugg Australia, which is an American company, predominantly manufacture their boots in China.

Our Ugg Boots

Our boots are hand made from 100% Australian merino sheepskin for comfort during winter and summer.

We do not sell "UGG Australia" boots. UGG Australia is a non-Australian company who predominantly manufacture their boots in China. Our manufacturer makes the boots here in Melbourne, Australia from quality 100% Australian sheepskin and have been operating for over fourteen years. In Australia we call that style of sheepskin boot an Ugg boot and they have been around for over thirty years. Please see www.saveouraussieicon.com for more information.

So we proudly say we DON'T sell "UGG Australia" boots, but they are ugg boots and they are made here in Australia. Our Ugg boots have a label on the back; however it is not UGG Australia.

Our Ugg Boot Label

Our Ugg boots have a label on the back; however it is not UGG Australia.

We proudly say we DON'T sell "UGG Australia" boots, but they are ugg boots and they are made here in Australia from fine Australian sheepskin.

Our label says “Made by Jumbo Ugg Boots Australia”.

Choosing the Right Size Boot

Choosing the best footwear size is obviously very important and as such we have provided you with extensive information which can be viewed by visiting our ‘Sizes’ page.

Caring For Your Ugg Boots

Our boots are resilient to basic elements but are not water proof when you receive them. You can use water repellent sprays to improve your boots’ durability and resistance to such elements as rain and snow. To obtain the best results, it is best to spray the boots when they are new. Please follow the instructions on the spray can; in some cases you may need to reapply the spray if the boots get wet.

If your boots get wet, it is best to allow them to dry naturally and slowly - DO NOT dry in direct heat or sunlight.

Please note that cleaning and maintaining your boots is done at your own risk, we bear no responsibility for the ongoing care and maintenance of the boots.

Important:

  • Do not soak
  • Do not use fabric conditioner
  • Do not use artificial heat to dry
  • Do not dry in direct sunlight
  • Do not dry clean

To remove grease stains you can sprinkle white chalk powder over the stain and leave it for a few minutes. Blow away the excess chalk and gently rub the stain with your hand. You can repeat this a few times until the stain has almost disappeared.

If the stain is particularly stubborn you could try gently rubbing it with sandpaper but be aware that this could also remove the colour.

Spotting can occur if the boots come into contact with droplets of water. This can usually be removed by folding the boot onto itself (skin against skin) and gently rubbing it together.
